Gilas Girls fall to Malaysians

SOCIAL MEDIA

Malaysia broke the hearts of Gilas Girls in the dying seconds of their semifinal match on Saturday night, pulling off a 66-65 overtime escape to book a championship seat in the FIBA U18 Asian Women’s Championship Division B at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bangalore, India.

Down by one, Sammi Tan sank a floater with 10 ticks left in the extension to put Malaysia ahead.

Gilas had a chance to win the game but Kate Bobadilla bricked her layup in the Filipinas’ final possession as their hopes of advancing to Division A crumbled from under them.

Jia Huey Yun finished with 14 points for Malaysia, which is a win away from a Division A promotion.

Bobadilla led all scorers with 19 markers as the Philippines will try to salvage a bronze medal Sunday.
