There will be no new character for gamers to play in the new season of Apex Legends: Revelry, which is set to be released on Tuesday.
For the first time since its official launch in February 2019, Respawn Entertainment has opted to not release a new playable legend in the popular team-based battle royale.
Instead, what the developer did was to remaster the classes in its 23-character pool.
“Rather than adding a new legend this season, we’re revamping the legend classes — bringing a new element to the legends you know. The legend class system divides our legends into 5 classes,” Respawn Entertainment announced.
“Each class reflects a core playstyle that encourages similar patterns of engagement on the battlefield. We also wanted to give every class its own strategic gameplay ability. Each of our current and future legends now have a meaningful role benefitting the team they’re on.”
From here on, the characters will be categorized as assault, skirmisher, recon, controller and support.
The sudden mix-up in character roles is a surefire game changer in the community as former tank class Gibraltar is now classified as support among many other changes in the game.
“In Revelry, legends have been reorganized on the legends screen according to their class. You’ll be able to see their associated class perk on top of that Legend’s unique abilities,” Respawn Entertainment stated.
“This reorganization will help players identify legends that play or support the team in a similar manner, and help them understand the new roles easier. The legend select screen has also been improved alongside this change.”
While players have no new legend or map to look forward to, they will at least have a new sniper gun Nemesis to get their hands on in the new season.
Also, players will also be treated to a login reward on the first and second week of Apex Legends’ fourth-year anniversary.
