PHNOM PENH — The Philippine national aquathlon team guns for gold medals in the individual and mixed team relay in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at the Kep Town Beach in Kep City.
Hostilities start at 6:30 a.m. (7:30 a.m. Manila time) where the aquathletes compete within the Kep peninsula, a three-hour and 17-minute ride from the Cambodian capital.
Raven Alcoseba and Heart Quiambao takes a crack at the women’s individual aquathlon gold while two-time SEA Games triathlon silver medalist Kim Remolino and Josh Ramos will look to get the men’s individual aquathlon gold at 7:30 a.m.
Kira Ellis, Aki Lorbes, Erica Burgos and Wacky Baniqued will be competing in the mixed team relay at 2 p.m.
Triathlon Association of the Philippines president Tom Carrasco said having the athletes compete in the Subic Bay International Triathlon tournament last April helped sharpened the team’s readiness for the biennial meet.
“We might not have had a Filipino on the podium of the SuBit race but I’m happy they got exposed to a world-class experience,” Carrasco said in a previous interview.
