Alex Eala’s stint in the Jasmin Open ended after a 5-7, 0-6 round of 32 loss to Belgium’s Elise Mertens in Monastir, Tunisia on Tuesday evening.

Eala, 18, managed to beat hometown bet Feryel Ben Hassen 6-1, 6-0, last Saturday and France’s Jacquemont, 6-1, 5-7, 6-1, in qualifying to enter the tournament.

This is Eala’s first tournament since taking home two bronze medals in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China last September.
