University of Perpetual Help System Dalta dethroned San Beda University to bag the historic table tennis title of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 99 yesterday at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Sports Center in Manila.
Bannered by Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player Chrisien Mae Santillan with Keziahbien Ablaza, Patrica Luca, Trisha May Plurad, Zada Marie Bocala and Charmaine Glorioso of coach Jun Glorioso and Kirby Colis, the Lady Altas outlasted the seven-time champion San Beda, 3-2, to win their first ever women’s division title.
On the other hand, the Junior Altas banked on MVP Gerald Aguilar in outclassing defending champion Red Cubs, 3-1, to deal them their first loss in the finals since Season 95 before the league took a break due to the outbreak of the Covid pandemic.
Aside from Aguilar, also composing the Junior Altas are Gabriel Amata, Russel Luna, Gerald Aguilar, James Michael Crom, Jheyron Valenzuela and Ian Tablang.
In the men’s division, College of Saint Benilde also dethroned San Beda, 3-1, to cop its ninth overall title while Perpetual settled for third place following a 3-0 decision over Mapua University.
