Philippine women’s national football team forward Sarina Bolden failed to score a goal as the Newcastle Jets FC settled for a 1-1 draw against Perth Glory FC in the A-League Women’s game at the Maitland Sportsground in Australia last Sunday.
Bolden, 27, wasn’t able to convert any of her nine shots in her first match facing off against Filipinas teammates Jessika Cowart and Quinley Quezada in Australia.
Natasha Prior committed an own goal in the second minute of the match that gave Perth a 1-0 lead until Mindy Barbieri netted an equalizer for Newcastle in the 77th minute.
The draw puts Newcastle to sixth place with a 7-3-8 win-draw-loss record.
Despite failing to score, Bolden remains the second-best goal scorer in the league with 11 goals in 13 games.
Michelle Heyman of Canberra United remains on top of the Golden Boot race with 13 goals in 17 games.
Next up for Newcastle is second seed Melbourne City on 10 March at the City Football Academy Field in Melbourne.
