John Cabang failed to punch a slot in the final of the men’s 60-meter hurdles after clocking in 7.68 seconds at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships on Sunday at the Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
Cabang finished fifth in Heat 2 of the semifinal and 18th overall in the biggest indoor athletics tournament.
The 22-year-old hurdler made it past the preliminaries with a time of 7.72 seconds, one of the six fastest times outside of the top three finishers per heat.
So far, the Philippines has yet to take home a medal in the Scottish meet.
Filipino-American trackster Lauren Hoffman failed to get into the semifinal of the women’s 400m after clocking in at 54.66 seconds last Saturday.
She finished 21st out of 24 entries.
As of press time, Italy-based Ernest John Obiena is competing in the men’s pole vault final.
The 28-year-old Obiena is competing in the 12-man field that includes Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Christopher Nilsen of the United States and world record holder Armand Duplantis of Sweden.
This tournament also serves as his buildup for the 2024 Paris Summer Games this 26 July.
