ONIC PH pulled off a surprise when it announced the firing of Edgar ‘ChooxTv’ Dumali in the ongoing Mobile Legends Professional League Season 10.
ChooxTv, a popular live streamer known for his playful strategies and builds such as Layla tank, made a lot of heads turn when ONIC PH tapped him to join its professional team.
But his professional stint didn’t last long as ONIC PH dropped him without playing a single game in his two-week stint in MPL.
“We would like to formally announce that Edgar ‘ChooxTv’ Dumali has been officially released from our roster this season,” ONIC PH said.
“It has been our pleasure that you have been part of our team despite the short time we have spent together. We wish you nothing but the best.”
But the sacking comes with a hefty price as the MPL penalized ONIC PH for violating a league rule that prevents teams from making roster changes during the season.
“The MPL Philippines operations committee is aware of ONIC Philippines’ decision to terminate ChooxTV from its Season 10 roster,” the league said.
“While the committee respects this move, we will impose a penalty as it is a violation of 6.1 general roster change rules which clearly states: ‘Teams are not allowed to unilaterally terminate Player Service Agreement arbitrarily.’”
With ChooxTv out of the picture, ONIC PH is left with seven players in Nowee “Ryota” Cabailo, Jefferdson “Kekedot” Mogol, Landher “Der” Gabriel, Stephen “Sensui” Castillo, Frince “Super FRINCE” Ramirez, Kenneth “Nets” Barro, and team captain Ralph “Rapidoot” Adrales.
Moving forward, the MPL PH committee also stressed that it does not want to see more teams perform roster changes amid an ongoing season.
“The league also hopes to deter further instances of this violation,” the MPL said.
“MPL Philippines Season 10 Operations committee seeks to uphold the highest standard of professionalism and fairness to ensure we deliver the best esports experience to our beloved community.”
