Chanelle Avaricio, Abby Arevalo, Daniella Uy, and amateur Samantha Bruce advanced to the final 18 holes of the first stage of the Professional Golf Association Tour Q-School in California Saturday.

Avaricio, the 23-year-old leader of the Ladies Professional Golf Tour back home, was the best-placed Filipina on 6-under 210 after 54 holes after firing her third straight sub-par round — a 70 — at Shadow Ridge in Palm Desert.

She started with a bogey but birdied 3 and 7 to reach the turn on 1-under. She finished with three more birdies against two bogeys.

Arevalo, an Epson Tour campaigner, turned in a flawless four-under 68 at Shadow Ridge to improve to 4-under.

She finished the round without a bogey while firing an eagle on 6 and birdies on 2 and 16.

Bruce, the 21-year-old standout from Seattle University, improved to 2-under after a 71 at Mission Hills’ Arnold Palmer course.

Bouncing back from a 74 at Shadow Ridge Friday, Bruce bucked a couple of double bogeys and a bogey with four birdies and a chip-in eagle from 12 yards on the final hole.

Daniella Uy made the cut on the number on 2-over after a battling 73 at Arnold Palmer.

She was even par at the front after mixing two birdies with the same number of bogeys. She made double bogey on 10 and birdied 13 before closing with five straight pars.

Two other Filipinas — Sunshine Baraquiel and amateur Lois Kaye Go, missed the cut by one shot despite breaking par.

Baraquiel collected three birdies against a bogey at Shadow Ridge to shoot a 70 while Go had five birdies against four bogeys for 71 at Arnold Palmer.

The final round will be played at Dinah Shore with the top 100 players advancing to the next stage.

Amateur Alessandra Fanali and Arpichaya Yubol were the clubhouse leaders on 11-under.
