NLEX playmaker Kevin Alas led the scoring derby following the playoffs of the Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup.
Alas averaged 23.5 points in the Road Warriors’ last two games before suffering a quarterfinal exit in the season-opening conference.
Reigning Most Valuable Player Scottie Thompson of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel emerged second with 22 points in three matches while CJ Perez of San Miguel Beer, Mikey Williams of TNT Tropang Giga and June Mar Fajardo also of San Miguel are at third, fourth and fifth spots with norms of 20.4, 19.8 and 19.3 points per game.
Alas also topped the offensive rebounding department with 5.5, besting big men like June Mar Fajardo (4.5), Abu Tratter of Converge, Ato Ular of Blackwater, and Cliff Hodge of Meralco tied at second with four offensive pulls per outing as of 21 August.
Overall, Alas ranks fourth in total rebounds with 10 per game behind Fajardo with 13.3, and Tratter and Ular with 11.
Meanwhile, Chris Newsome of Meralco is the chief playmaker with 5.4 assists per match to pace Williams with 5.4, Thompson and Baser Amer of Blackwater with 5.0, LA Tenorio of Ginebra with 4.6 and Alas with 4.5.
Alas, however, has the highest turnover with five a game followed by Maverick Ahanmisi of Converge with 4.0, Williams with 3.6, Newsome with 3.4 and Tratter with 3.0.
Ahanmisi also led the steals category with 4.0 per game while Japeth Aguilar of Ginebra leads the blocks department with 3.0 each match.
