Former world lightweight king George Kambosos, a former sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao, will set up camp in the Philippines as he gears up for his October rematch with Devin Haney of the United States in Melbourne.
Kambosos is challenging Haney on 16 October at Rod Laver Arena in the hopes of regaining the three 135-lb straps that Haney took away from him last June via a unanimous decision.
Kambosos used to travel to the Philippines several years ago to serve as the chief sparring partner of Pacquiao, the Filipino legend who went on to win an unprecedented eight world titles in as many weight classes.
Given the magnitude of the first Haney fight, Kambosos said the promotional activities surrounding that fight took a toll on him.
