Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Marcial is flying to the United States next week in preparation for his third professional fight in October.
“He will be leaving 29 August,” MP Promotions chief Sean Gibbons from Mexico City yesterday.
Gibbons is moving heaven and earth to book Marcial a spot underneath Jerwin Ancajas’ rematch with Argentine Fernando Martinez on 8 October at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
“That’s what I am working on right now,” Gibbons added.
Currently, Marcial is training together with Ancajas in Magallanes, Cavite.
Fighting in the middleweight class, the southpaw Marcial had to pick himself up from early knockdowns to stop Isiah Hart in Las Vegas.
The 2019 world championships silver medalist, Marcial made his pro debut in December 2020 in Los Angeles.
Marcial, a native of Zamboanga, fights under the Manny Pacquiao-owned MP Promotions and is regarded as a future world champion.
