EJ Obiena managed to place third at the Lausanne Diamond League in La Pontaise Olympic stadium in Switzerland early Friday (Manila time).
The 26-year-old pole vaulter managed to get past 5.80 meters after two tries and get a much better standing en route to the Diamond League final in Zurich, Switzerland on 7 to 8 September.
World record holder Mondo Duplantis came away with the victory after breaking the meet record at 6.10m while Nilsen is at second place with 5.80m.
Sondre Guttormsen of Norway is at fourth with 5.80m with Ben Broeders of Belgium is at fifth with 5.70m.
Thiabut Collet of France placed sixth with 5.60m with Anthony Ammirati at seventh with 5.60 as well.
2012 London Olympics gold medalist and Frence pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie needed one attempt at 5.40m for eighth over his brother Valentin, who sits at ninth despite a similar result.
Hometown bet Dominik Alberto needed three tries to get over 5.40m., leaving him dead last in the 10-man tourney.
