The San Francisco Bay Area Dragons torched De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 122-77, in a tune-up game on 27 August at the Kerry Sports Manila gym in Taguig City.
Despite the loss, CSB head coach Charles Tiu felt good about the Blazers’ matchup with the East Asia Super League team, in the runup to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 98 on 10 September.
“We’re happy we got to play with them. It was a good experience. They’re a good team and they’re very well coached,” Tiu said. “It’s a big deal for us to play in other leagues and get tune-up matches.”
The Blazers are aiming for a Final Four spot in the NCAA following back-to-back losses in the play-in format last season.
The Bay Area Dragons recently defeated Ateneo de Manila University, 102-93, in another closed-door tune-up game on 21 August.
The Blue Eagles, led by head coach Tab Baldwin, emerged as the World University Basketball Series champion on 11 August.
