One-time world title challenger Michael “Hot and Spicy” Dasmariñas resumes his rebuilding stage when he collides with Ryan Rey Ponteras for the Philippine super-bantamweight crown on 15 October in Tacloban, Leyte.
Staged by Dasmariñas’ promotional outfit Hardstone Monis, the scheduled 12-rounder will be held at the Tacloban Convention Center.
This will be Dasmariñas’ third fight since failing to unseat Naoya ‘Monster’ Inoue in June 2021 in Las Vegas in a bid to win the Japanese pride’s twin world bantam belts.
The southpaw Dasmariñas, who hails from Bicol province, packs a 31-3-2 record with 21 knockouts.
Ponteras, 32, a native of North Cotabato, packs a 23-16-3 mark with 12 knockouts.
Since losing to Inoue via a brutal third-round knockout, Dasmariñas has fought twice, battling another former world title challenger Ernesto Sailing to a technical draw in December 2021 and stopping Danny Tampipi last March.
