Gen. Ronald Santos and Song Lee led the winners in the inaugural Dugong Marino OFW Foundation golf tournament at the Navy golf course last Monday.
Santos fired a 75 to win the low gross title while Lee shot a 66 to emerge as overall net champion.
Captain Relly Jose, foundation president and president of GMM Global Maritime Manila, paid tribute to the participants for supporting the cause-oriented tourney that benefits selected male high school students of Barangay Madapdap Resettlement Center in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
“During my visit there, I saw the passion in the eyes of these students of becoming seafarers, not just because to uplift their dire life, but to help their parents. They live in a settlement area in Mabalacat where opportunities are scarce. That’s why we established the foundation to help them realize their hopes and aspirations,” Jose said.
The foundation is also responsible for launching a feeding program for kids in the barangay and gift-giving activities.
