Jan Jamon delivered in overtime, lifting Bacoor to an 85-82 win over Caloocan in the OKbet-Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League 4th Season late Thursday at the Strike Gym in Bacoor City.
The 6-foot-2 Jamon pumped in eight points, including two free throws in the final 7.40 seconds in the extra period, to seal the victory and raise the Strikers’ record to 7-11 win-loss mark in the single round robin eliminations of this 22-team tournament.
All in all, the former Pasay Voyagers star wound up with 16 points to complement the 18-point, six-rebound effort of Mark Montuano and the 17-point explosion of RJ Ramirez, who connected back-to-back baskets to send the game to overtime.
Riel Cevantes fired 18 points and 14 rebounds for Caloocan, which fell to 4-13.
Meanwhile, Pasig evaded the upset ax from Makati, 78-76, while Valenzuela trounced Laguna, 92-79, in the other matches of this triple-header.
Kobe Bryant Pableo’s drive put Makati ahead, 76-74, in the final 28 seconds, but Pasig kept its poise down the stretch to extend its winning run to six and improve to 12-5 record.
With time down to 14.4 seconds, Makati committed a passing error, enabling Rey Anthony Peralta to tie the count at 76 before Robbie Manalang scored on a lay-up to complete Pasig’s great escape.
Peralta and Carlo Lastimosa finished with 17 points while Manalang and Jason Melano added 11 each for Pasig, which dealt Makati’s 16th loss in 17 matches.
Valenzuela, on the other hand, got 16 points each from Ronjay Buenafe and Jaymar Gimpayan and 12 from Brylle Ivan Meca to dominate Laguna and lifting its slate to an even 9-9 record.
