It was another show of force by a Filipino fighter Thursday night in Tokyo when Esneth Domingo scored a sixth-round stoppage of erstwhile undefeated Jukiya Iimura in their scheduled eight-round flyweight clash.
Dubbed “Hard Hitter” by his promotional team Sanman Promotions of General Santos City and Zip Boxing of Cebu, Domingo had floored Iimura in rounds two, three and five in their duel staged at the famed Korakuen Hall.
The third man on the ring, sensing the futility of Iimura’s stand, stepped in finally in the sixth after Domingo cracked him up with a left hook.
The win boosted the record of Domingo to 17-2 with nine knockouts while the loss dropped Iimura’s mark to 3-1.
Domingo got pointers from his uncle Michael Domingo, who used to be a former world contender.
