The Czech Republic duo of Miriam Kolodziejova and Marketa Vondrousova clipped Alex Eala and partner Petra Marcinko of Croatia, 7-5, 6-2, in the quarterfinals Wednesday of the W80 Poitiers tournament at the Comite Departemental De Tennis De La Vienna on France.
Eala and Marcinko’s stand lasted just an hour and five minutes as she saw her hopes for a double victory go up in thin smoke since she is still in the running in singles play.
Eala,17, the US Open girls champion, will meet eight-seed Vitalia Diatchenko of Russia in the round of 16.
Ranked No. 115 by the Women’s Tennis Association, Diatchenko carved out a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over French bet Marine Partaud in the round of 32.
Eala is also oozing with confidence going into her next match as she ousted two-time tormentor Jessika Ponchet.
Eala is eyeing a third singles title after triumphs in the W15 Manacor last year and W25 Chiang Rai in April.
