Juvic Pagunsan birdied the 18th hole to post a two-under-par 68 in the third round of the Heiwa PGM Championship in Ishioka, Japan Saturday.
The 44-year-old Filipino completed 54 holes on 8-under 202, good for a temporary share of 16th place.
He reached the turn on 1-under following a birdie on 5 and added two more birdies against a lone bogey at the back.
Justin de los Santos, the other Filipino in the field, carded a 69 behind three birdies against two bogeys for a 1-under 209 total.
Japanese Rikuya Hoshino fired a 64 to take the lead on 15-under 195, one shot ahead of Australian Brad Kennedy who also had a 64.
Aguri Iwasaki and Ryosuke Kinoshita tied for third on 13-under 197 after a 63 and 65, respectively,
Meanwhile, Carl Corpus closed with a double bogey, spoiling what could have been a superb round in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at the Amata Spring Country Club in Chonburi, Thailand.
Corpus wound up with a one-under-par 71 to slip to temporary 24th on 4-under 212.
Starting at the back, he birdied 10 and 15 and added birdies on 2 and 4 to get to 4-under for the day.
He stumbled with back-to-back bogeys from 5, bounced back with a birdie on 7 before that closing double bogey.
Corpus was the lone Filipino who made the cut after a sterling 66 in the third round.
