Jose Rizal University aims to get back on the winning track as it battles Emilio Aguinaldo College in Season 98 National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament today at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Hostilities begin at 12 p.m. as the Heavy Bombers take on a Generals squad that currently sits at the bottom of the standings.
JRU has been doing good before multiple schedule changes due to health and safety protocols and storm “Paeng” making a mess of its brand of play.
Team captain Ry de la Rosa feels the team needs to reboot as the Heavy Bombers are coming off three losses.
“We just need to focus on us rather than our opponents because I think that’s where the problem really lies,” De la Rosa said.
While EAC seems to be a pushover, De la Rosa believes its woeful 1-12 record doesn’t reflect its level of competitive play.
“EAC is a good team despite what the record says. They beat the No. 1 team (College of Saint Benilde) so that says a lot about them,” he added.
Apart from De la Rosa, Jose Rizal will also lean heavily on Agem Miranda and Jonathan Medina.
The Generals will answer with Nat Cosejo and Allen Liwag.
