Marcio Lassiter came to San Miguel’s rescue by hitting two treys during the height of a Phoenix Super LPG rally to power the Beermen to a 108-104 win last night in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Playing minus their head coach Leo Austria, who missed the game due to health and safety protocols, the Beermen got the job done with George Gallent and former PBA great Ato Agustin joining hands.
Lassiter assumed the fireman’s role when he struck twice from downtown just when the Fuel Masters overcame a 13-point deficit in the third period.
The 6-foot-3 swingman finished with 14 points as he emerged as one of six players who scored in double figures for the Beermen.
While Lassiter was at his best down the stretch, it was Simon Enciso who set the tone for San Miguel’s breakaway.
The deadshot guard led the way with 20 points on a torrid 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.
With Enciso on fire, San Miguel Beer was able to establish a 75-62 lead in the closing stage of the third period.
Import Devon Scott had another solid game, finishing with 18 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block.
