Don Trollano went on a scoring spree, hitting five three-point shots and making 20 points — all in the third quarter.
The 6-foot-3 veteran forward matched his career-high 26 points and led NLEX, to a 120-117 overtime win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on 25 November at the Philsports Arena.
Trollano had the same output when the Road Warriors also played in another overtime match but lost to Terrafirma, 114-124, on 18 November.
This time, Trollano and the rest of the Road Warriors got the job done and kept their flickering hopes for a playoff berth alive.
In snapping a five-game losing skein, NLEX improved its win-loss record to 4-7, but needs to end its final elimination round game against Meralco on 30 November with a victory to catch the last quarterfinals bus.
Barangay Ginebra saw its five-game winning run broken as it suffered its third loss in 10 games to stay at No.3 spot. But its twice-to-beat aspirations get tougher going to its last two games in the elimination round.
