Lloyd Jefferson Go bounced back with a five-under-par 66 to move within two shots off the pace going into the final round of the PKNS Selangor Masters at the Kelab Golf Seri Selangor Golf Club in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia Friday.
Go, who slowed down with a 73 in the second round, moved to 6-under in the company of Malaysian Danny Chia.
Tied on 8-under were Malaysian Shahriffuddin Ariffin and Thai Denwit Boriboonsub who shot 66 and 68, respectively.
Go, ranked fifth in the money list, eagled the par-5 sixth hole and made six birdies against three bogeys.
Fidel Concepcion was the next best-placed Filipino on 9-over following a 74 while Ira Alido dropped to 11-over after an 83.
Meanwhile, Dino Villanueva advanced into the final stage of the All Thailand Golf Qualifying School after closing with a one-under-par 71 at the Kabin Buri Sports Club in Prachinburi, Thailand Friday.
Villanueva made three birdies against two bogeys to improve to even-par 288, good for a temporary share of eighth place.
He was the only Filipino to make it among 60 players advancing to next week’s final stage.
Amateur Leon D’Souza closed with a 69 to top the 72-hole qualifying on 11-under, two shots ahead of Korean Yang Minhyeok who also had a 69.
Thai Koonwong Kosit settled for third place on 6-under after a 71.
