The Philippine national women’s football team smashed Papua New Guinea anew, 9-0, in a friendly match at Western Sydney Wanderers Park in Australia Thursday evening.
Quinley Quezada led the charge with a hat-trick, striking in the 65th, 85th, and 87th minutes while Katrina Guillou scored a brace, fining the target in the 24th and 72nd minute in the Filipinas’ last game for 2022.
Sara Eggesvik (11th minute), Jessika Cowart (46th minute), Tahnai Annis (53rd minute) and an own goal by the Papuans (55th minute) added more to the damage as the Philippines won the second of its two-game friendly matches.
The national women’s team thrashed the Papuans 5-1 last Sunday.
The Filipinas will make the most of their rest time as next year’s training will be harder in preparation of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on August.
Co-host New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland will be in Group A along with the Philippines.
After securing World Cup qualification last January, the Filipinas went on to play New Zealand, Costa Rica, Chile and Papua New Guinea in friendly matches to get used to the challenge that awaits them in the tournament.
