Chloe Isleta shattered the national record of the women’s 200-meter individual medley again in the 16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25-meter) 2022 on Wednesday in Melbourne, Australia.
Isleta clocked in two minutes and 13.77 seconds, eclipsing the 2:13.85 she registered in the second leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2022 last month in Toronto, Canada.
The Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, unfortunately, wasn’t able to make it into the top eight as she only placed 29th overall in the 35-woman competition.
Isleta also participated in the 100m individual medley and placed 22nd after tallying 1:02.11 minutes.
The 24-year-old swimmer from De La Salle University also did 28.08 seconds in the 50m backstroke while earning a time of 1:00.25 minutes in the 100m backstroke.
She will be competing in the 50m freestyle on Sunday.
Also breaking another Philippine record is Jerard Jacinto, who posted 24.36 seconds in the men’s 50m backstroke.
Jasmine Alkhadi, on the other hand, placed 41st in the women’s 100m freestyle after clocking in 56.51 seconds.
Alkhadi will swim again on Friday in the 50m freestyle.
Thanya de la Cruz clocked in 1:01.17 minutes in the women’s 100m breastroke at 33rd overall while Jonathan Cook tallied 1:00.87 minutes in the men’s 100m breastroke to finish 44th overall.
