Filipino-American Jaden Galo Dumdumaya birdied two of the last five holes to salvage a one-under-par 69 at the Normandy Shores, one of two golf courses used for the 2022 South Beach International Amateur in Miami Monday.
The 16-year-old son of Filipino entrepreneurs sits in a big group tied for the 58th spot, six strokes behind pacesetting Oscar Coulleau and George Duangmanee who each carded a 7-under 64 at the Miami Beach Golf Club.
The South Beach Am is the fifth-ranked amateur golf tournament in the world.
The event has lured 175 of the world’s Top 1000 amateurs.
Dumdumaya birdied 3 and 7 against a bogey on 2 to reach the turn on 1-under but stumbled with back-to-back bogeys at the start of his inward trip. He bounced back with birdies on 14 and 16.
