Gab Macalaguim brought his A-game to eliminate Derek Ramsay, 5 and 3, in the semifinals of the 2023 club championship of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite Sunday.
Macalaguim ended the match on the 15th hole to arrange a title duel with Ace Stehmeier, a 6 and 4 winner over Santino Laurel.
“I played well but not good enough,” said Ramsay who was 3-over through 15 holes.
The 46-year-old actor just returned from Europe on Saturday.
In the seniors’ division, Kenneth Kim and Jock Stacey arranged a final match following abbreviated victories over separate opponents.
Kim clobbered Ryan Abdon, 4 and 2; while Stacey blasted Marlon Villanueva, 5 and 4.
Romy Serrano and Vic Guzman stormed to victories to reach the final in the super seniors’ category.
Serrano dumped Marlo Lugay, 2 and 1, while Guzman made short work of Ed Abesamis, 5 and 4.
In women’s play, Roh Kyung Ae whipped Christine Papp, 4 and 3, while Jo Barredo ousted Abby Lapid, 2 and 1.
