Track and Field bets wishing to make the grade for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh in May can showcase their wares when the Philippine Athletics National Championships from 21 to 26 March in Ilagan City, Isabela.
Drolly Claraval, the Region 2 director of the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association, said in a radio interview yesterday that event those who are aiming to join the Philippine team to the world championships in Budapest, Hungary, can also earn points by showing up in Isabela.
Last year, Italy-based pole vaulter EJ Obiena was the lone Filipino entry in the worlds held in Eugene, Oregon.
He wound up with a bronze medal.
Claraval said participating in the national championships is crucial.
“This is the final selection for the SEA Games,” Claraval said.
The Patafa is looking at surpassing its 5-7-14 gold-silver-bronze haul in the Hanoi SEA Games last May by making a splash in the Cambodian capital.
