He birdied 3 and 4, bogeyed 5 but gained a stroke on 8 to salvage his round.
The final cut was pegged on 3-under with Justin de los Santos making it on the number after a 67.
Jhonnel Ababa bowed out with a 74 and 3-over total.
John Lyras and Jack Thompson shared the lead on 17-under after shooting 66 and 64, respectively.
