Bal David stepped down as head coach of the University of Santo Tomas men’s basketball team after just one season.
The university’s official student publication ‘The Varsitarian’ broke the news Thursday night, 26 January.

David took over as mentor of the Tigers just a couple of months before Season 85 of the University Athletic Association of Philippines last year as the replacement for Jinino Manansala.
He, however, failed to lift UST’s basketball program after a disappointing 1-13 win-loss record.
The Tiger’s lone victory under his watch was against Adamson University in their season opener. UST after that lost all of its next 13 games including heartbreaking close calls.
UST in Season 84 finished with a 3-11 slate.
David was a part of the storied Tigers squad under late coach Aric del Rosario that won back-to-back titles in 1993 and 1994. He helped Barangay Ginebra win two PBA titles during his colorful professional career in the mid-90s until mid-2000s.
