F2 Logistics made sure that it won’t get into the same trouble it had during its first game.
The Cargo Movers repelled a late charge by the Akari Chargers to walk away with a 25-21, 25-22, 25-18 win and join two other clubs on top of the standings in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference Saturday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Kim Kianna Dy took care of business on the offensive end while Dawn Macandili was again efficient on manning the floor as F2 Logistic carved its second straight victory in as many games tied with Chery Tiggo and defending champion Creamline for the early lead.
The opposite spiker unleashed 17 points, all on attacks, to pace the Cargo Movers’ revenge over their Reinforced Conference tormentors, who remain winless after two outings.
Head coach Regine Diego despite the straight sets win felt that her wards could do better.
“I cannot say that they did not improve, they improved in some areas, but we can’t be satisfied with this. I want more from them. So many things we have to improve,” Diego said of her team, which opened the season with a five-set victory over PLDT in a match that F2 Logistics dominated in the first two sets before flirting with disaster.
“Akari did well, respect to them. Also, we have to improve on closing out games quickly. We can’t wait for them to make more points. We have to be more aggressive. But we’ll take the win,” she added.
Myla Pablo finished with nine points, Ivy Lacsina had eight markers while Macandili chipped in 14 digs and 13 excellent receptions for F2 Logistics, which tied its league-best start recorded in the 2022 Open Conference.
The Cargo Movers saw its nine-point lead in the third set cut to just three, 19-16, after a Chiara Permentilla service winner. Dy answered with back-to-back hits to stop the Chargers’ run.
Dy put F2 Logistics at match point before Eli Soyud committed the last of Akari’s 27 errors on an attack that went wide.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat, who was pulled out of the game late in the third set, was the only Chargers player to score in double figures with 16 points.
Janine Marciano and Trisha Genesis had nine and six, respectively, for Akari.
