F2 exacts revenge

SOCIAL MEDIA

F2 Logistics waited three months before getting payback against Akari.

When the opportunity came, the Cargo Movers did not waste time in serving cold revenge with an emphatic sweep of the Chargers in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The unbeaten squad collected its second straight victory with a 25-22, 25-23, 25-18 triumph over its listless rival for a share of the lead.

F2 Logistics caught an Akari side flat-footed and throwing away points off errors to easily dispose of its 2022 Reinforced Conference tormentor in just an hour and 44 minutes.

“Of course, it’s a good feeling getting revenge on the team that defeated us last conference,” Cargo Movers opposite spiker Kim Kianna Dy.

The winger did the most damage for F2 Logistics, striking all her 17 points on kills that wreaked havoc on the Chargers’ defense.

Libero Dawn Macandili also frustrated the attackers of Akari with her usual efficient defensive outing. The veteran defense specialist proved to be a thorn on the side of the Chargers with her 14 digs and 13 excellent receptions.

“We really prepared well for this game because we really wanted to get back at them,” Macandili said.

The Cargo Movers came into the game extra motivated against the squad that ruined their chances of entering the import-laden tournament of the previous PVL season.

The then-newcomer Akari behind high-scoring foreign player Dominican Prisilla Rivera stunned F2 Logistics in four sets. That loss eventually came to haunt the Cargo Movers in the race to a Final Four seat.

With its second win in as many games, the Cargo Movers tied their best start since joining the league last year.

“So hopefully we bring this (momentum) to our next games and we keep improving,” Dy said.

“It’s good that we started on a good note, but there are a lot of improvements that we still need to work on. So, we’ll just take every game one set at a time, and hopefully, we reach it ‘til the end,” she added.

F2 Logistics will face another undefeated squad Chery Tiggo on Thursday.
