College of Saint Benilde launched a recruiting coup as it landed quality talents who could help it in its campaign in the National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament.
Blazers coach Charles Tiu confirmed to Daily Tribune that they have already recruited Allen Liwag, Emman Galman and Jhomel Ancheta to boost their roster following a bridesmaid finish to Letran College in Season 98 last year.
Tiu said Liwag, Galman and Ancheta are already with them but will have to take a one-year residency before seeing action in Season 100 in 2024.
Another quality recruit in Nate Victoria, meanwhile, is still fighting for his spot despite confirming his commitment.
“It’s nice to know that now, players are starting to consider our school. It means we are at least doing something right,” Tiu said in an interview.
“We take care of our players and try to groom them for life outside basketball as well.”
Liwag is transferring from Emilio Aguinaldo College, where he spent his first two playing years with averages of 9.87 points, 8.62 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.
The 6-foot-1 dynamo Galman, for his part, came from De La Salle University while Ancheta is fresh from seeing action with Centro Escolar University, where he averaged 9.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League.
