Arellano University snapped Lyceum of the Philippines’ three-game winning streak after a 26-24, 25-16, 25-16 victory on Wednesday in Season 98 National Collegiate Atheltic Association women’s volleyball tournament at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.
The Lady Chiefs forced a three-way tie for second place involving the Lady Pirates and the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta as they are now sporting identical 3-1 win-loss records.
Marianne Lei Angelique Padillon led the Lady Chiefs with 12 points.
Arellano head coach Obet Javier said the girls were able to execute what they have practiced in this match, especially with the team leading the game in blocks, 13-4.
“I’m happy because we were able to execute what we practiced. It’s a good thing we were able to overcome the first set,” Javier said.
“It’s a big deal we were able to get that many blocks because it’s the first time we were able to get that many.”
Trina Abay and rookie Laika Tudlasan also paced the Lady Chiefs with 11 points each.
Joan Doguna led the way for the Lady Pirates with 13 points as the Intramuros-based school absorbed its first loss of the season.
