Setter Louie Romero displayed great ball distribution in leading Adamson University’s pounding of Far Eastern University, 25-21, 24-26, 25-14, 25-21, for a rebound win in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The playmaker tallied 25 excellent sets and effectively activated her attackers where four Lady Falcons scored in double figures as the squad recovered from a heartbreaking five-set loss to defending champion National University last Wednesday.

After squandering two set point advantages in the second set, Adamson unleashed its full firepower in the next two frames to improve to a 2-1 win-loss record.

“Very happy that we got through FEU,” Lady Falcons coach Jerry Yee said. “So, in our must-win games, we have to take care of business. So, I’m glad our team got the win.”

Kate Santiago led all scorers with 18 points including 17 off attacks to lead Adamson, which hammered 56 attack points and only had 17 errors compared to 28 of the Lady Tamaraws. Santiago also had 13 digs and eight excellent receptions for the Lady Falcons.

In men’s play, FEU recovered from an opening set setback before carving out a 31-33, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23, victory over Adamson to get back on the winning track.

Mark Calado blasted 20 kills in his 24-point production and added 10 digs and 17 excellent receptions in all-around performance for the tamaraws’ second win in three assignment.
