PHNOM PHEN — Sarina Bolden scored a last-minute header to keep the Philippine national women’s football team in contention for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games gold medal after a 1-0 win over Malaysia here at the Army Stadium in Phnom Penh Saturday.
With one more chance for a win and tied at 0-0, Sara Eggesvik’s free-kick found Bolden and she was able to slot home a goal to finally get a win this year’s biennial meet.
This is also Bolden’s 21st goal for the Filipinas, only trailing by one goal behind teammate Quinley Quezada.
Now in second place with a 1-0-1 win-draw-loss record, the Filipinas have a chance to take the top seed against defending champion Vietnam on 9 May at the same venue.
