PHNOM PENH — Jerard Jacinto broke the men’s 100-meter backstroke national record en route to a bronze medal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at the Aquatics Center inside the Morodok Techo Sports Complex here in Phnom Penh Saturday.
Jacinto clocked in 55.99 seconds, eclipsing the 56.27 mark he set back on 20 August 2019.
Zheng Wen Quah of Singapore took home the top prize in the event after a 55.22-second swim with Indonesia’a Farrel Tangkas coming in at second place with a 55.80-second mark.
Meanwhile, Teia Salvino, Miranda Renner, Xiandi Chua, and Jasmine Alkhaldi took home the silver medal in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay after clocking in three minutes and 47.96 seconds.
Quah Ting Wen, Nur Marina Chan, Quah Jing Wen, and Amanda Lim of Singapore bagged the gold medal with 3:44.29 minutes.
