PHNOM PENH — The Philippine national team doubled its gold medal haul after winning seven gold medals in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Sunday, 7 May.
The day kicked off with the men’s and women’s obstacle teams winning the men’s and women’s relay races, respectively at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center.
Then, Kim Mangrobang won the women’s duathlon event held at Kep Town Beach in Kep.
Back in Phnom Penh, Bien Zoleta and Princess Catindig took home the gold medal in the soft tennis women’s doubles event at the National Olympic Stadium.
Two more Filipinos struck gold at the Chroy Changvar Convention after Jamie Lim of karate captured the gold in the women’s 61-kilogram kumite and Marc Lim won the jiu-jitsu men’s nogi ne-waza 69-kilogram event back at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center.
Before the day was done, SIBOL won over Vietnam, 3-1, in the final of League of Legends: Wild Rift.
As of this writing, the Philippines have won 14 golds, 19 silvers, and 19 bronzes for a total of 52 medals.
Host Cambodia leads the 11-nation meet with a 29-21-22 gold-silver-bronze medal haul with Thailand at second place with a 16-17–26 medal tally.
