Kenette Egano, the Saragani bantamweight who slipped into a coma after winning his eight-round fight last Saturday in Imus, Cavite, passed away Wednesday afternoon.
Egano beat Jason Facularin on points and was moments away from being formally declared winner when he collapsed in his corner.
He was brought to the hospital immediately as trainer Dexter Benatero stood guard. The boxer’s parents arrived yesterday from General Santos City.
Manny Pacquiao shouldered his hospital expenses and his body will be brought home to Saraggani.
