Orchard paces JGFP Interclub

GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite — Orchard Golf and Country Club took a slim one-point lead over Pueblo de Oro at the start of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines Interclub at the Aoki course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.

Orchard, drawing 55 points from Korean Kim Tae Soo, assembled 160 points under the Molave scoring system which awards 3 points for a par.

 

The Taiwan-based Granada knocked in six birdies against two bogeys to power the Cagayan de Oro-based squad which drew 53 from Cliff Nuneza and 51 from Glenn Unabia.

 

Zachary Castro and Taewon Kim backed Kim with 54 and 51, respectively as Orchard served notice of its intention of bringing home the Division I Championship crown.

Pueblo de Oro garnered 159 points, thanks to Mico Granada’s day-best 58 points.

Canlubang took third spot with 152 with Pueblo’s second team next with 150.

Zachary Villaroman scored his first-ever hole-in-one to lead Canlubang with 54 points.

He aced the 135-yard 17th hole with a nine-iron.

Also scoring for Canlubang were Edison Tabalin 50 and Gabriel Handog 33.

In Division I Developmental, Cebu Country Club stormed ahead with 139, five points ahead of Del Monte.

Tashi Balangauan led CCC with 50 points with Lois Lane Go and Apple Gotiong adding 45 and 44, respectively.

Del Monte was led by Isabella Tabanas who shot 51 points. Other scorers were Chris Aparilla 341 and Crista Minoza 41.

 

The team standings:

Division I Championship — Orchard 160, Pueblo de Oro 159, Canlubang 152, Pueblo de Oro 2 150, Riviera 143, TGA Junior 143, Apo 136, Team CDO 134, Del Monte 128, GolfX 124, Eagle Ridge 110, Canlubang 2 102.

Division I Developmental — Cebu Country Club 139, Del Monte 2 134, Aguinaldo 113, Mixed Nuts 108, Xavier 89, Wack Wack 83, Aguinaldo 77, Xavier 67, ICA 58, ICA 2 55.
