JGFP Interclub: Orchard, TGA, CCC rule

GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite — Orchard Golf and Country Club turned what started as a close fight with Pueblo de Oro into a rout to win the Division I Championship division in the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines Interclub at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club on Thursday.

TGA stamped its class in Division II Championship while Cebu Country Club swept the Developmental brackets at the close of the three-day event.

Starting the day with only a four-point lead, Orchard closed with 156 points to end the challenge of Pueblo de Oro which could only produce 141.

Orchard has a three-day total of 470, drawing 53 points from TJ Padilla, 52 from Kim Taewon and 51 from Kim Tae Soo.

Mico Granada powered Pueblo with 52 points but got little support from his teammates. Alethea Gaccion shot 45 while the 44 of either Armand Copok or Glenn Unabia counted.

TGA assembled the second-best score — 151 — to edge Canlubang for third spot on 440.

Thai Chonpansa Tawinsang led TGA with 57 points while Monique Arroyo and Geoffrey Tan added 47 apiece.

CCC was untouchable in the Developmental divisions.

Tashi Balangauan scored her second straight 53 points as CCC assembled 137 for a 424 total in Division I. Other scorers were Lois Laine Go 47 and Apple Gotiong 37.

Del Monte 2 came in second with 398, scoring through Isabella Tabanas 48, Crista Minoza 42 and Chris Aparilla 41.

 

CCC was untouchable in the Developmental divisions.

 

In Division 2, CCC totaled 348 to win by 28 points over Del Monte.

Scoring for CCC in the final round were Eliana Mendoza 38, Manu Tionko 36 and Samantha Alvarez 31.

Del Monte drew 43 from Blademher Estologa, 38 from Marcus Duenas and 33 of either Edward Guillermo and Mico Woo.

Maurysse Abalos of Aguinaldo and Mona Sarines of Orchard scored holes-in-one on Thursday, bringing to five the number of aces posted during practice and the tournament proper.

The others who scored aces were Nicole Gan of TGA, Zach Villaroman of Canlubang and Li Ji Won of Riviera.
