Sibol is on the brink of winning a Southeast Asian Games gold medal for the third consecutive time following a hard-fought victory over Myanmar this Saturday evening at the 32nd SEA Games in Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
Composed of Bren Esports players Pheww, KyleTzy, Super Marco, Owgwen, FlapTzy, and ONIC’s Ryota, Sibol looked as if they were about to lose the series until FlapTzy pulled off heroics with his Yu Zhong to salvage a 2-1 win over Myanmar.
“We are definitely happy but still nervous because the job is not yet done. As far as I can see, we have a very good chance of gold. Eyes on the gold. Eyes on the prize. Tomorrow we will see,” said Sibol coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro of Bren Esports.
“I am excited to reach another gold medal though the mindset that I want is no regrets. No matter what, there would be no pressure. I always tell them that no matter what happens, we already have a medal and we just have to enjoy the game,” Pheww added.
Now guaranteed of bagging at least a silver medal, the Philippines will battle Malaysia in a best-of-five series later today at 4:30 PM.
