The United States College Sports Camp Asia summer golf camps returns to the Philippines at the Orchard Golf and Country Club on 31 May.

In partnership with the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines under new president Oliver Gan, the USCS will again bring top US Division I college coaches to give an opportunity for local junior golfers to have a typical US College golf team training day experience.

“We welcome our new partnership with US College Sports Camps to bring this camp to our junior golfers. May these coaches inspire our members to pursue college golf in the US as an option after their junior golf days are done,” Gan said.

Thai ML Orus, USCS founder, said: “We are very optimistic of our partnership with the JGFP as we continue to bring the US College Golf experience to Philippine junior golf players. This has been our commitment with our local partner for the past five years to help the growth of the game in the Philippines. We want to see more Filipinos play college golf in the US.”

The camp will be run by three coaches from top college golf programs in the US.

Duke University associate head coach John Whithaus has 15 years of college men’s coaching experience and now running eight years with the Duke Women’s Team.

He has been with both the Duke men’s and women’s golf programs and has the distinction of being the only coach in NCAA Division I to lead a team to both the men’s (2011) and women’s (2016) to the match play semifinals round at the NCAA national championships. He has also coach an NCAA Division I individual men’ and women’s champion.

He has been awarded a Women’s Golf Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year and has served as an assistant coach with the US Palmer Cup Team. Prior to Duke, he was the head men’s coach at Ohio Wesleyan for 12 years leading them to 11 US NCAA Division III National Championship appearances finishing in the top 10 in six out of the last eight years.

Philippine junior golfers will get to experience a typical training day in a top US college golf program with campers handled by coaches in small group settings. They will be given rage instructions, short game, putting and on course play.
