The highly anticipated launch of the 2023 “Next-Gen” Ford Ranger Raptor finally took place last 18 May at the ARCA South Interactive Park in Taguig City.
In an exciting move sure to rock the pickup market, Ford Philippines has officially launched its new performance truck, ushering in a new era for off-road enthusiasts.
This new beast of the backroads is built with a potent fusion of Ford Performance’s precision engineering, powertrain prowess, advanced safety measures, and high-tech features.
“Our Ford Performance DNA is unmistakably present in the Next-Gen Raptor, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” said Mike Breen, managing director of Ford Philippines. “Our Filipino customers have shown an incredible affinity for our trucks, and we believe the major upgrades we’ve integrated will not just meet but exceed their expectations.”
The Ranger Raptor’s imposing size was expertly balanced with its agile maneuverability, making it the perfect fit for the bustling streets of Manila. The vehicle looks like it’s out to rule on and off the road.
Ford’s bold departure from the traditional blue shade with the introduction of the new Code Orange color adds an extra touch of ruggedness to the Ranger Raptor’s visual impact. The vibrant hue perfectly complements the matte black exterior elements and effortlessly highlights its dynamic design.
Sculpted to conquer, the Next-Gen Raptor imparts unshakeable confidence. Its 4-wheel Drive System, rear locking differential, underbody protection, and aggressive approach and departure angles make it a formidable off-road vehicle. The 2.5-inch FOX shocks with position-sensitive damping technology, coupled with increased wheel travel and bump absorption, ensure remarkable stability and comfort across all terrains.
The Next-Gen Raptor also comes equipped with a Trail Control System, a kind of cruise control for off-road driving, which will allow drivers to maintain a steady speed while the truck handles the throttle and braking. The feature allows for more focused steering through challenging landscapes.
The beating heart of the beast, a 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel Engine, is perfectly paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Capable of generating 210PS max power and 500Nm max torque, this powertrain combination ensures a seamless, robust performance. With seven driving modes tailored for various conditions, the Next-Gen Raptor promises dynamic adaptability.

A 360-degree camera, a dedicated off-road screen display, and a suite of advanced driver-assist technologies such as Active Park Assist 2.0, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and Lane Centering are just some of the features ensuring safe journeys. The Next-Gen Raptor also includes FordPass, offering remote vehicle control features.

A special ceremony was also held to acknowledge the first 20 owners of the Next-Gen Ranger Raptor, who were in attendance to receive their brand-new trucks, all wrapped up in blue ribbons outside the event venue.
Excitement soared as media guests and test drive registrants were given the unique opportunity to experience the Ranger Raptor’s capabilities firsthand.
Ford had commissioned a specialized test track, tailored to showcase the truck’s impressive features. Journalists and guests eagerly strapped into the cabin, ready to embark on an adrenaline-fueled run.
The specialized test track encompassed a variety of challenges designed to push the Ranger Raptor to its limits. From an exciting medium-speed jump to a suspension flex and traction section that showcased the vehicle’s off-road prowess, participants were left exhilarated by the truck’s capabilities. A camber test highlighted the Ranger Raptor’s sideways stability, while a tight-squeeze section emphasized the effectiveness of its external cameras.

Perhaps the most thrilling segment was the water fording section, where the Ranger Raptor effortlessly tackled deep water obstacles with its 265mm ground clearance, leaving no doubt about its ability to conquer challenging terrains. The truck’s robust construction and water-resistant features ensured a smooth and confident ride through this wet adventure.
