High-flying power hitter Sisi Rondina could be making a return stint to indoor volleyball after a four-year hiatus.
Talks of Rondina joining Choco Mucho has circulated on social media as Premier Volleyball League clubs are busy beefing up their rosters for the coming mid-season tournament Invitational Conference set to begin on 29 June.
Flying Titans head coach Dante Alinsunurin did not confirm nor deny the possibility of having another gem added to its star-studded lineup.
“Nothing official yet. But we’ll just wait for any development within this week,” Alinsunurin told Daily Tribune on Monday.
Rondina, a former University Athletic Association of the Philippines Most Valuable Player, last played indoor volleyball back in 2019 for Petron in the defunct Philippine Superliga before focusing on her beach volleyball career.
The 26-year-old Cebuana represented the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games alongside Bernadeth Pons where the duo won bronze in the 2019 Manila and pandemic-delayed 2021 Hanoi editions.
Then, she partnered with Jovelyn Gonzaga last year to rule the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures held in Subic.
The duo along with Pons and Dij Rodriguez, however, came up short of a medal finish in the recently concluded Phnom Penh edition of the biennial meet.
Rondina, a four-time UAAP beach volleyball champion, will be a good addition for Choco Mucho not only of what she could bring on offense but also for her solid floor defense.
She will add more depth at the wing spot for the Flying Titans together with Isa Molde, Des Cheng and Kat Tolentino.
Choco Mucho will also benefit in Rondina’s energy and leadership as the squad looks to end a string of disappointing finishes since last year.
The Flying Titans finished seventh in the All-Filipino Conference with just two wins in eight outings.
Choco Mucho placed sixth in last year’s Invitational Conference.
