Sen. Bong Go hailed the Filipino para-athletes who will be competing at the 12th ASEAN Para Games and pledged his commitment to advocating for their welfare during a send-off ceremony held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on Tuesday, 23 May.
The competition will be held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from 3 to 9 June.
In a video message, Go expressed his deep appreciation for the remarkable athletes and their embodiment of the Filipino spirit. The senator emphasized the significance of their participation in promoting inclusivity and diversity within the realm of sports.
“Remember, this journey is not just about winning; it is about the courage to compete, the will to overcome challenges, and the spirit to represent our nation with pride,” stated Go, highlighting the true essence of the Para Games.
The Philippine delegation, consisting of 174 of the country’s finest athletes, will engage in fierce competition across 13 different sports, showcasing the immense talent and versatility of the Filipino contingent.
“Our delegation, comprised of 174 of our country’s finest athletes, are not just participants. They are embodiments of the Filipino spirit – laban ng Pilipino, pusong Pilipino. They will compete in 13 sports, a testament to the breadth and depth of their abilities,” Go emphasized.
Go also took the opportunity to convey the unwavering support and encouragement of the entire nation to the athletes as they prepare to embark on their journey to Cambodia.
“Nais ko pong ipaabot sa inyo ang suporta ng buong bansa sa inyong magiging laban sa Cambodia. Anuman ang maging resulta nito, para sa lahat ng mga Pilipino, kayo po ang aming kampeon,” the senator declared.
“Ang inyong mga tagumpay ay tagumpay ng ating bansa, at ang inyong mga laban ay laban din namin. We, as a nation, are rooting for you,” he added.
