Jaden Dumdumaya birdied the 18th hole to secure the individual title and power De la Salle High of Concord to the CIF NorCal Championship at the Berkeley Country Club in El Cerrito, California on Monday.
The 16-year-old Filipino-American, who played in the Southeast Asian Games, closed with a 4-under-par 68 to edge Luke Price of Rocklin High by one shot.
It was Dumdumaya’s first title in the event. He settled for second place behind champion Jacob Ponce last year.
De la Salle posted a team score of 3-under 357 and won a record seventh crown. The Spartans also prevailed in 2002, 2006, 2011, 2013, 2018 and 2022.
Other De la Salle scores were Joshua Kim (70), James Williams (71), Jack Jerge (73), Colin Keith (75) and Jack Hayden (75).
Crystal Springs finished 13 shots behind De la Salle to settle for second place while Granite Bay took third at 380.
All three schools advanced to this year’s CIF State Championship slated on 31 May at Poppy Hills.
