Rain or Shine marches to battle when it faces NLEX in the Philippine Basketball Association On Tour preseason tournament today at the Ynares Center in Pasig City.
Game time is at 7:30 p.m., following the 5 p.m. encounter between Converge and Terrafirma.
Rain or Shine is looking to make a good impression playing under head coach Yeng Guiao, who took over as mentor of the squad midway last season.
Guiao led Rain or Shine to two championships in five years of coaching the squad before moving on to take over as coach of NLEX, a team which he handled for six years.
Mac Belo was included in the preseason roster of the Elasto Painters but has yet to sign a contract after being acquired in a trade from his previous team, Meralco last week.
The 6-foot-3 former Far Eastern University standout’s contract has expired and will need to sign a new deal with his new squad.
It’s going to be interesting how these two teams will perform as both of them want to use this preseason as part of their buildup for the coming season in October.
For Guiao, the preseason is just one way of getting his players back in condition.
“It’s something you don’t really prepare for because this will be the start of your preparation for the coming season,” Guiao said.
The Road Warriors will be playing their second game in the preseason as they lost their first encounter against Blackwater, 88-93, on Sunday.
