Chinese Jiaqi Wang broke the heart of Alex Eala of the Philippines, 0-6, 6-4, 6-3, yesterday in the quarterfinal round of the W25 Monastir women’s singles tournament in Tunisia.

The match lasted for one hour and 47 minutes as Eala, a scholar of the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy in Mallorca, Spain, found herself getting dumped by the No. 1131 netter in the Women’s Tennis Association rankings.

Eala, who turned 18 last 23 May, currently sits at No. 262 in the latest WTA rankings.

With the loss, Eala’s hunt for a third professional singles ended with a whimper.

Eala had a breakout 2022 when she won the US Open juniors title.
